Summer classes have officially begun! My first class, Social Studies Methods, is BORING. My professor seems nice and is very knowledgable about the subject but so far class is set up in a typical lecture style format which equals boring. There are lots of assignments for this class so I'm glad I'm taking it during the summer! One of the assignments is a history project on Jacksonville, basically I have to do research on an event or place in Jacksonville that has 25+ years of history and interview 2 people who have a connection with it. Any ideas? I'm thinking about doing Kingsley Plantation, I don't know much about the place.
My second class doesn't start until June 28, which will be nice.
I'm seriously considering cutting my hair short(er)! I love having long hair and it's pretty and I can do lots of things with it BUT it is so hot during the summer. I'm thinking a style like this:
Well that's all I got for now!

Mother's Day
I hope everyone had a great mother's day!
As I said in my last post once mother's day passes I would post my homemade gifts.
First, I made my mom a bracelet (each bead had a different meaning) and then a box to store it in. The original idea can be found here. I modified it slightly and mine doesn't look as "perfect" but I'm still glad with the result and my mom loved it! Also, in the process of making the bracelet, I found nice beads for CHEAP on http://www.dollarbead.com/, the quality was good and I received my beads quickly, I was impressed b/c the sight doesn't look like much but I figured I'd give it a try since beads are usually pretty pricey. I do recommend!
Now, for my mother-in-law, I made a gift that was from all her kids. It's called a Memory Jar, which is pretty amazing (my mom even made one for my grandma b/c she loved the idea) The original can be found here. She loved her gift as well. Each of her kids contributed 4-5 memories. She said she wants them to add atleast one new memory every year (great idea!!) Here's the pictures of the finished product. ( used a basic jar rather than a penny jar because I couldn't find one small enough. My mom later found one that was smaller than the original at Walmart)
Well I hope that these ideas inspire you! They can really be given for any occasion, like a birthday =]
I'll try to post more often, just been so busy! Summer session starts next week so I'll be at school twice a week. And working when I'm not in school. So we'll see!

Whew, it's been awhile since I last wrote! This past week was pretty busy!
Monday we went to the beach for my mother-in-law's birthday. Took Tyler (my nephew), he loved it. Then later we went to Sticky Fingers (which I still don't like btw! Horrible experience every time....)

Tuesday my Aunt, Amanda, went into labor I went up to the hospital when I got off work around 6. We stayed up there until around 11:30. She had Allison Paige at 1:54am April 27. We went to the hospital the next morning. She is beautiful! I keep wanting to say she's my neice, not my cousin, since Amanda is more like a sister to me. We're the same age so we've always hung out like sisters.
The rest of the week was just work. I need to catch up on some sleep, can't wait for thursday, off of work and I don't have school so I have a real day off!! I think I'm gonna go to the thrift store because all my pants/shorts are way too big on me. So far I've lost 13 lbs. Feels so good!! I'm not sure how much more I want to lose, atleast 6 more.
well I don't got much more to say. After Mother's day I'll post pics of the things I made, I'm so proud of myself =]

Eventful Week
It's been an eventful week!
Wednesday my dog of 6 year passed away. She was just old. I'm glad I had her for that long of time. Some of you may be thinking that wasn't that long. Well all of my dogs have died of freak accidents, the longest dog I have before her was 4 years. Tinkerbelle lived a long life for her size, she weighed between 2 and 3 lbs!
My grandma, who actually gave me Tink when she was a puppy, told me I could get another one. She even had one that was tiny and kind of looked like Tink (pictured above). It was hard but I did the right thing and said no. =( I really don't have time for a dog anyways, I'm always gone between school and work.
We celebrated my brother's 18th birthday Saturday. It was a total surprise to him! Turned out great, there were a lot of people there. You can see in my album on facebook. I got him an N64, of all things that was what he really wanted!
I'm excited for mother's day, even though I still got a few weeks, I was looking for DIY ideas online (I love DIY projects!) and found two awesome ones that making for my mommy and mother-in-law! Can't wait, I would share the sites I got them from because they have a lot of wonderful ideas but I don't want my mom's to see them ;)
So Easter is this Sunday. If you don't have a church to go to I would love for you to come to First Coast Christian Center 2724 New Berlin Rd Jax FL 32218. There will be an 8:15 am (Nursery provided) service and a 10:30am(nursery and children's ministries provided) service.
With that being said, Sunday is also the day that Ronnie( the guy who killed my dad while driving) gets out of jail. I'm not sure how I feel about that, I haven't really truly allowed myself to think about it. When he was sentenced I agreed to the 4 years in for him, now I feel like that was such a short time. But I just hope that he truly realizes what he did and that he never ever drinks and drives again. Just remember, every decision you make affects someone else, whether it be in a big way or a small way. Because Ronnie decided to drive while drunk, my daddy was not there for my high school graduation, he wasn't there to walk me down the aisle at my wedding, he won't be there when I graduate from college, he won't be there when I have my first child....and the list goes on and on.( and the same for my brother and sister) Because of ONE choice.
Weight loss update: Last week I didn't lose anything and I'm not really supposed to weigh again until Wednesday but as of last night I've lost a total of 10 lbs! I feel so good! It's not just about losing the weight, it's about eating healthy. I was telling Cameron last night that this has helped me really eat more fruits and veggies. I've always loved fruits but I never really ate them, but now I have an excuse to eat them and not all that processed junk. Of course I still eat processed stuff, but just on a smaller scale.
Hope you enjoyed today's rants =]
until next time,
Kristina

Thrift Stores
Okay, this is gonna be short. My fault-I procrastinated once again. I don't know why, each time I tell myself I'm never doing this again! But it always happen. I don't wait as long as most- I've heard stories of doing school work up until the minute of class starting. Couldn't handle that!
Anyways......
This is week has been fun. I went to the thrift yesterday with my aunt and mom. I got about 7 new shirts and a pair of shoes for $18.41! I love thrift store shopping. In return for getting new clothes I went through my closet and got rid of a lot of stuff I haven't worn in forever and took it to Plato's Closet (love that store too!!) and got about $50. yay. I love deals! If you know any amazing thrift shops let me know. I'll share my info with you:
Thrift City on Edgewood Ave is huge. I love that clothes are oragnize by type and size, makes it so much easier to find things! Awesome deals: Monday's are 99c days, a different tag color each week is 99c. Also they have daily deals if you 'like' them on facebook!
Goodwill Pound Store on Lenox Ave, near Edgewood Ave- lots of great deals! Price are by the pound which equals very cheap! The only downfall to this store is little organization. The clothes are thrown into big bins, which can be of the same variety/brand/style or completely random. So you have to have time and patience to go here!
Salvation Army- There's quite a few in Jacksonville but the best one is on Beach Blvd. They have 50% off clothing on Wednesdays (be prepared to wait in long lines because everyone knows about this deal!) and 30% off of furniture on fridays.
Those are my main thrift stores. Let me know about any other great deals!
Alrighty gotta go.

I don't have much to say today, I'm tired-totally did not want to get up for school! Two-three weeks left of school! I'm gonna take summer classes, just found out I recieved summer financial aid!!! That will start the end of june so I have a decent two month break before then.
So lately when I tell people I'm in school to become a teacher they make this face like "oooh, really?" and say something like "Wow I couldn't do THAT" or "Educators don't make enough money, especially with all that's going on. You probably won't be able to find a job" While some of these statement may be true, I know that this is what I'm MEANT to do, it's part of my purpose. So I get tired of people putting me down on something I'm passionate about and going to SCHOOL for! hello!! I would never say that to someone who is working hard and paying money to get an education for something they want to do. I know it may be hard to find teaching jobs right now and I know that they are not treating teachers too swell now either BUT I also know that MY God is my provider and that I don't need to worry.
Ok sorry, little rant there. I was just thinking about that, I get sick and tired of people being rude and I'm not open enough to tell them right then and there.
Well I gotta go. Btw- is this font hard to read? I like, but I won't use it anymore if it is. let me know ^_^

First off--> I was posting on Xanga, but decided Blogger is way cooler, so from now on my posts will be here. To see my previous posts (all 7 of them, haha) go to http://ktina05.xanga.com/
Nothing really new here. So far I've lost 5lbs since joining WW and exercising regularly. I feel so much better!
I'm excited because we're starting a new unit in Stars this week, Fitness. I really want the girls to value their bodies and see their worth. We're going to touch that and start getting physical with fitness activities! Yay for fun!
Oh and I recieved GREAT news! I recieved additional financial aid for Fall 2011 and Spring 2012 semesters, so I'll be back on track with school. I'm so HAPPY! I was only able to take 3 classes this semester and 3 classes last semester so I'm a littler behind schedule (supposed to graduate Spring 2012) but I think I'll be able to graduate in Fall 2012 if I can get summer aid. If not then I'll definitely be done by Spring 2013! Then the job searching can begin.
I'm really excited for my future, can't wait! Although I'm enjoying the here and now time as well =]
My aunt (who's the same age as me =]) is due April 23, so I'm excited to meet the baby, Allison Paige =) she's gonna be a cutie.
As for me, not PLANS for a kid anytime soon, just enjoying all these people around me who are having kids. BTW baby clothes are so CUTE. I have bought Allison way too many things. haha oh well =]
well g2g,
Just realized I used a lot of smilies, sorry....=]
