Summer

Summer classes have officially begun! My first class, Social Studies Methods, is BORING. My professor seems nice and is very knowledgable about the subject but so far class is set up in a typical lecture style format which equals boring.  There are lots of assignments for this class so I'm glad I'm taking it during the summer!  One of the assignments is a history project on Jacksonville, basically I have to do research on an event or place in Jacksonville that has 25+ years of history and interview 2 people who have a connection with it. Any ideas? I'm thinking about doing Kingsley Plantation, I don't know much about the place.
My second class doesn't start until June 28, which will be nice.

I'm seriously considering cutting my hair short(er)! I love having long hair and it's pretty and I can do lots of things with it BUT it is so hot during the summer.  I'm thinking a style like this:
Well that's all I got for now!

Mother's Day

I hope everyone had a great mother's day!
As I said in my last post once mother's day passes I would post my homemade gifts.
First, I made my mom a bracelet (each bead had a different meaning) and then a box to store it in.  The original idea can be found here. I modified it slightly and mine doesn't look as "perfect" but I'm still glad with the result and my mom loved it!  Also, in the process of making the bracelet, I found nice beads for CHEAP on http://www.dollarbead.com/, the quality was good and I received my beads quickly, I was impressed b/c the sight doesn't look like much but I figured I'd give it a try since beads are usually pretty pricey.  I do recommend!

Now, for my mother-in-law, I made a gift that was from all her kids.  It's called a Memory Jar, which is pretty amazing (my mom even made one for my grandma b/c she loved the idea) The original can be found here.  She loved her gift as well.  Each of her kids contributed 4-5 memories.  She said she wants them to add atleast one new memory every year (great idea!!) Here's the pictures of the finished product.  ( used a basic jar rather than a penny jar because I couldn't find one small enough. My mom later found one that was smaller than the original at Walmart)

Well I hope that these ideas inspire you! They can really be given for any occasion, like a birthday =]
I'll try to post more often, just been so busy! Summer session starts next week so I'll be at school twice a week. And working when I'm not in school. So we'll see!

Monday, May 2, 2011

Whew, it's been awhile since I last wrote! This past week was pretty busy!
Monday we went to the beach for my mother-in-law's birthday. Took Tyler (my nephew), he loved it. Then later we went to Sticky Fingers (which I still don't like btw! Horrible experience every time....)

Tuesday my Aunt, Amanda, went into labor I went up to the hospital when I got off work around 6.  We stayed up there until around 11:30. She had Allison Paige at 1:54am April 27.  We went to the hospital the next morning. She is beautiful! I keep wanting to say she's my neice, not my cousin, since Amanda is more like a sister to me. We're the same age so we've always hung out like sisters.

The rest of the week was just work.  I need to catch up on some sleep, can't wait for thursday, off of work and I don't have school so I have a real day off!! I think I'm gonna go to the thrift store because all my pants/shorts are way too big on me.  So far I've lost 13 lbs. Feels so good!! I'm not sure how much more I want to lose, atleast 6 more.
well I don't got much more to say. After Mother's day I'll post pics of the things I made, I'm so proud of myself =]
